Key learning points

  1. The SSC [cue] is pronounced as in 'cuerpo', the SSC [cua] as in 'cuatro' and the SSC [cui] as in 'cuidar'
  2. The SSC [ce] is pronounced as in 'centro', the SSC [ci] as in 'decir'
  3. An adverb of position provides information of the location of things. We often use 'del' and 'de la' after them.
  4. When the preposition de is followed by ‘el’ it becomes del.
  5. To talk about where things are we use the verb 'estar' with 'estoy' meaning 'I am' and 'está' meaning 'she, he, it is'.

Common misconception

The word 'coche' means 'coach'.

In Spanish, the word 'coche' means 'car'. 'Coach' is 'autobús'.
