﻿Hi, I'm really looking forward to our lesson today. I hope you are too. Before we get started, this is just a little reminder. We are here to support any approaches you might already be using. And any work you might have already been set. We know that this lesson is going to be going up to so many different children and families. So if you're not sure about anything or have any questions, then please do contact your usual therapy team. Hi, today, we are going to use the skills that we've learned in this unit all about Organisation, and Executive Functioning. And we're going to put all of those skills together, and try and plan an event. Very exciting. Hi, so this is the last lesson in our unit five, which is all about Executive Functioning, which, as we said earlier is a fancy way of saying how our brain let's us or helps us to manage ourselves, okay? And this means that it helps us to focus and pay attention on what we need to. It helps us remember important things. It helps us to manage our emotions. It helps us to plan how to do something. And it helps us to organise ourselves and our belongings. Why do we need to be organised? Now if you can think back to all of those lessons we did in this unit? It is really, really important because when we can be organised, we can look after ourselves. We can keep track of all our belongings and all our things. We can do things on time and we won't be late. And it also means that we won't make the same mistakes over and over again. Because we learn and we make habits, and we form good habits. Pause the video now to get the items you will need for today's lesson. Resume once you're finished. And you're simply going to need some paper and a pen or pencil. I want us to think back and think about how have we become organised? Okay, what have we done so, we can I'm going to say you because you've done all the hard work, okay, so you can make, and use lists. You can guess how long things will take you to do. You can start a task and finish it. You have formed some wonderful routines. You know how to organise your work area, your work space. You can now keep your rooms tidy. And you know where to keep everything. Okay? Because you've done so well. So now, let us plan an event, okay, and for my event, I'm going to say let's pretend that a friend is coming over after school, and you are going to work on a school project for art. And then your friend is going to stay, and have a little play with you, and also maybe have some dinner with you and your family. Okay, so this is very exciting. I love when friends come over after school. So the first thing you need to think of is where is everything. So it will really help your friend if you can make a list and tell them where to put their coat, their shoes, their bags, and also the things that they've brought for the art project, okay. Tell them what your after school routine is, and what the plan is for the afternoon, because you must remember your friend might be coming and feeling a bit nervous about coming to your house. They might be feeling a bit nervous about doing a project without their parent or carer with them. So if you give them a list, it will keep you calm, but it will also make sure that they are feeling calm and comfortable. So pause the video now, to plan the routine for the afternoon. You can ask an adult to check it as well. Resume once you're finished. Next, you're going to have to think of the homework task. Okay, so your friend's coming over so you can do your art project together. Make a plan for your homework task. So sort out before hand. Where are you going to do your homework? Will you need any help from an adult? What equipment and supplies will you need? Where is all the equipment? How long do you think it will take you? What are the steps that you will have to do, and who is going to do what? So which steps are you going to do? Which steps are your friends going to do? Is your friend going to do? And for which step will you need an adult? So pause the video now to plan this little homework routine. Speak to an adult and check that they're happy with you putting things, or doing things way you think you can do them. Resume once you're finished. Then you need to make a plan for after the homework is done for some play time, okay. Make a list to plan out what you're going to do. Where you're going to do it. Are you going to be indoors, or you're going to go into the garden. Will you need help from an adult to maybe set something up, or to supervise something. What games will you need? Where are your toys and games? What does your friend like to do? Maybe your friend wants to bring a game over. How long will you have? So how long will you have between finishing your project and your meal time, okay, and are you going to have time after eating to play as well? So think about all of these things, and very importantly, who is going to tidy up? Well, I think we all know the answer to that one. It's going to be you and your friend. You can prepare and you can organise. You have become so much more independent.
