Common misconception
Many homophones are common exception words and pupils often confuse homophones within sentences.
Give pupils the chance to choose the spellings they find most difficult and give them the strategies to help them practise.
Ensure pupils understand all the words in the lesson. Supplement the lesson with images to help embed the words in their memory.
