Key learning points
- Cardiff Central railway station is the largest railway station in Wales, used by millions of passengers each year.
- Cardiff is home to the only international airport in Wales.
- Cardiff can be reached by car from England on the M4 motorway, though this is a very busy route.
- An Aquabus water taxi runs from the city centre to Cardiff Bay and from there to Penarth, a nearby town.
- The Taff Trail is a mainly traffic-free route from Cardiff to Brecon Beacons National Park that can be walked or cycled.
Common misconception
That taking journeys is only about getting from one place to another in an efficient way.
Travelling between locations may be about getting there quickly for commuters, but journeys can also be taken in free time for pleasure. For example, taking long walks in natural places, or bike rides in the countryside are very enjoyable journeys.
