- Maps and fieldwork can help us identify key features and where they are.
- Marshes are low-lying, wet places near rivers and coasts, that often flood, and they attract a range of wildlife.
- People do lots of different jobs: some need to be done wherever you live and some are unique to a locality.

Island - An island is a piece of land, smaller than a continent, that is surrounded by water.
Marshes - Marshes are a type of wetland that form in low-lying areas near rivers and coasts.
Nature reserve - A nature reserve is an area of land where the animals and plants living there are protected.
Holiday park - A holiday park is a place where people can go to camp, stay in a cabin or stay in a caravan.
Village - A village is a small group of houses where people live.
Common misconception
Pupils often think that some jobs are gendered - e.g. tractor drivers or lifeboat crew are men.
Model jobs being done by a variety of people showing diversity where appropriate, in terms of gender, age, ethnicity and ability.
