Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. Move: to shoot, keep feet shoulder width apart, knees bent, control the backswing, and follow through to the target.
  2. Move: we need to move quickly into an attacking space, so we can receive a pass from our teammate and shoot at goal.
  3. Think: evaluating our shooting helps us maintain accuracy and leads to scoring more points.
  4. Feel: striving to always try our best with our shooting even when we are struggling demonstrates excellent resilience.
  5. Connect: we must communicate appropriately with our team, the opposition and the officials to always show respect.

Keywords

  • Score - how a team or individual accumulates points to determine the winner of the match

  • Technique - the way in which a skill is performed

  • Team - a group of people who work together with the objective of achieving the same a goal

Common misconception

Many pupils believe that the harder they hit the ball, the better their shot will be. This leads to a lack of accuracy and technique.

Encourage pupils to focus on using the correct technique and highlight the importance of accuracy over power.
