Lesson details

Key learning points

  1. Fitness tests are measured or recorded using various units.
  2. Power can be measured by the vertical jump test.
  3. The 1 rep max test measures strength.
  4. Testing procedures encompass how each test is conducted, including organisation of facilities and equipment.

Keywords

  • Speed - the maximum rate at which an individual is able to perform a movement or cover a distance in a period of time

  • Strength - the ability to overcome a resistance

  • Power - product of strength and speed (explosive strength/anaerobic power)

  • Flexibility - the range of movements possible at a joint

Common misconception

Raising the knees in the sit and reach test.

When performing the sit and reach test the knees should. be flat along the floor to give an accurate reading of flexibility.
