- During competition (peak playing season), athletes focus on maintaining fitness levels and working on specific skills.

Common misconception
Training seasons align with seasons of the year.
They are very different. Training seasons will align with the type of sport and their compeition period. For example, the football season is currently a different time period to the netball super league and hence their seasons will be set by this.
