Lesson details

Key learning points

Keywords

  • Risk - the likelihood of harm or injury occurring during physical activity or sport

  • Hazard - something that has the potential to cause harm, injury, or damage during physical activity or sport

  • Injury - physical harm or damage to the body

  • Personal protective equipment - an item of clothing or equipment designed to be worn to limit the chance or severity of injury

Common misconception

Injuries can be prevented in sport and physical activity.

We can significantly reduce the risk of injury using the measures discussed in the lesson, however nothing can guarantee an accident causing injury to a performer.

Injuries is an engaging topic to ask your students to share their experiences. What has happened to them/someone they know? How did it happen?
