- The sound-symbol correspondences [a], [o] and [u] can be practised with many place names in Spanish-speaking countries.
- Masculine adjectives that end in ‘o’ change to an ‘a’ when the person or animal being described is female.
- Adjectives ending in –e or -z can describe a female and male person or animal; they do not change.
